The joy of buying (and selling) second hand

This week I have had 3 different examples of how good it is to buy and sell second hand, and for a multitude of reasons too – so I thought I would share
My first example is a friend who has recently gone through a divorce and had to effectively set up home again due to needing new furniture or wanting a fresh start and they have sourced a lot from Facebook market place. He has been so chuffed with what he got – some high quality designer items for a fraction of the cost. He actually quite enjoyed the challenge of seeing what he could get. He also said he was inspired by our finance posts which made my day!
Here are some of the bargains....
Santiago extendable dining room table RRP £3,199 – purchased for £350!!!

Simply human bin RRP circa £150 - purchased for £15

Other bargains:
Sofa’s - were free from friends or local groups
2 x 42inch smart TV’s were free from friends or local groups
Bedside tables – Free friends or local groups
Samsung washer dryer – Facebook at 60% cheaper than RRP
You can just see how much has been saved and also not lacking any quality.
The next example I have is we were chatting with a potential accounting client this week who runs a shop and they sourced their shop furniture from facebook marketplace. You would never know as the shop has a very high end feel. My favourite pieces was a small purple velvet small Chesterfield Chaise Longue. Amazing
And the third example was I sold an Ipad which isn’t used anymore on Facebook. A young lad came to pick it up and just wanted it as he was travelling and wanted a bigger screen to watch downloaded Netflix. It made me feel so good that I could help him out and it was going to a good home and will be used.
SO whats not to love about second hand;
Cheaper
Sustainable
Get good quality at a low price even designer things
Feel good factor.
Hope this inspires you to think second hand!
Have a great week
